Creating Voices

For this project, I chose to create a short piece on the violin in order to explore the concept of storying. Storying means to create something using a story which is what I did for this piece. Through my composition, I tell a story about the relationship with my identical twin and my journey to find individuality despite always being compared to someone else while growing up. I convey this through techniques such as playing two strings at a time in the beginning and eventually ending the piece by playing on one string. This project allowed me to express the idea of storying through the platform of musical performance.
